HELP ME TO COLLECT MONEY

I thank all small and big contributors in advance.

SHANTY

A NEW SHELTER FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH IN NEED IN OSLO

“Can I stay with you if something happens at home?”

Only then did I understand the seriousness of the family situation at the child’s home. I became paralyzed – for many years. But the question from the child has consumed me for years.

Today I collect money, also on the occasion of me turning 40, for better late than never. The project I have called Shanty (which means protection, shelter, or peace).

“Shanty” becomes a new offering in Oslo for vulnerable children and young people with problematic family relationships.

SHANTY – a sister project of Kafésynk

This project will be an activity house and a 24-hour shelter with a competent team that welcomes children and young people. Shanty will serve as a safe “extra home” with the main focus on preventive work for physical, emotional, and psychological abuse against children and adolescents.

In collaboration with Kafésynk, the stage for Latin American music, the children will enjoy small concerts, music, and dance workshops. The children will learn to express their voice through creative arts, based on their interests, inner talent, and emotions. Children can participate in weekly activities with local artists or project-based projects with visiting artists.

The goal is to strengthen communication skills and to better tackle tragic situations in the future – both at home and in the society at large.

MUSIC, DANCE, AND ART – EVERY DAY

DISTRESSED BUT PARALYZED

How can we help a child with physical or mental violence and domestic abuse? And how can we help children who do not have visible traces of abuse?

Many children and adolescents grow up with mentally ill parents. These children are difficult to “detect” and grow up in today’s society as “invisible children.”

Norwegian Church Aid and the Children’s Welfare organization signal concern for children and young people living in homes with parents who drink, beat, rape, or ignore normal child care. One study shows that only one in three children who call via SOS phone – actually get help.

The isolation in the Corona epidemic may have reinforced already critical family relationships.

I have developed this project, based on observations and experiences, which can be a highly relevant measure for today’s situation.

Now you, too, have the opportunity to help.

FROM IDÉA TO REALITY WITH YOUR HELP – THE GOAL IS NOK 250,000 (APPROX. 26,000 US$)

I am now raising money for basic capital that will go to rent for one year.

The capital, from private or public sources, will also help towards the large sums of money needed to maintain the project.

Would you like to join the project?
